Race 15: Chi-Rise and Shine 5k
Happy New Year! In addition to a ReSOULution ride (1.5 hours) at SoulCycle on Sunday, I started the new year right on New Year's Eve by running the Rise and Shine 5k! This was the first year of the race and it was honestly a lot of fun! The course was unique and the goody bag was fun (I LOVE both the beanie and gloves!).
The course started off Randolph near Randolph and Columbus and headed to the lakefront path. After a bit of running along the path, you double back on the upper sidewalk and cross Lake Shore Drive at Maggie Daley park. You run along through the park get to cross the fun swirly silver bridge (it's up hill, by the way) and run along the Jay Pritzker Pavilion before finishing just north of it. Like I said, unique and a lot of fun...and also hills. I ran it with my friend Karen (find her on Instagram: @kare_to_go_run) and we finished very strong. Overall it was a great race!
After, the after party was at Sweetwater on Michigan and included a free mimosa. I had a table in a backroom with the aSweatLife group (check them out! www.asweatlife.com and sign up for the #SweatWorkingWeek events! Posts on that to come!) which was definitely nice because the restaurant was packed! Still, we had great service, my food came quickly and it was great talking with old friends and making new friends!
It was new, but it didn't seem like it. It was very well put together and I will definitely be doing it again next year!
