Lollapalooza + The Bed Head Hotel Recap
This past weekend was my favorite weekend of the year: Lollapalooza. I know most Chicagoans hate it, but Lolla 2014 was one of my first real doses of Chicago and as such, I regard it fondly. This year, much like the past two, I didn't drink too much and instead focused on relaxing with music and food. That said, it's Wednesday and I still haven't recovered. I think that means I'm getting old.
This year was weird. Muse, one of the bands I was looking forward to the most, only played two songs before being stormed out. The Pretty Reckless, the band I was looking forward to the absolute most, never arrived due to a cancelled flight caused by the same storm that canceled Muse. So I focused on discovering new music (LOVED Grouplove) and both eating and Instagram-posting my way through the fest. Shout out to Cupcake Wines, as I earned both a Jammypack Fannypack and a $60 merch credit from them by posting on Instagram. I also got a Popsocket from them! Photo diary below! (It's set up as a carousel so you have to scroll through!)
I spent friday morning with Bead Head at the Hard Rock Hotel Downtown! I got some sick braids and products as well as cocktails and a hat (that I'm currently wearing at work) by Mellow Mushroom Pizza's new lifestyle brand, House of Shroom! There's a photo of the back of my hair below.
To sum it up, Bed Head by TIGI took over the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown Chicago on August 4th and 5th during the festival weekend, making it the go-to space for festies to prep before heading to Lolla. The event featured DJ performances and visits by Rumer Willis, Brandi Cyrus, Dani Thorne, Lindsay Luv and The Naven Twins as well as local Chicago DJs Jill Strange, Alissa Jo and Phil Rizzo. IN the lobby, Chicago-based street artist JC Rivera did a live graffiti chalk-art installation!
We had the opportunity to have our hair made festival-ready by top Bed Head stylists, and they commented on my natural red hair and it made me almost regret the major hair change I'm making next weekend, so I actually have changed my original plan. Details are coming, promise! Additionally, available were makeup touch-ups and manicures, specialty drinks and live entertainment. The pro styling team was insane. I ended up with crazy knotted braids, but there was everything there braids to faux hawks, andtwisted top knots. My boyfriend even got his hair cut and styled! Bed Head was committed to providing guests with one-of-a-kind, festival-inspired styles to last all weekend. Each look was created using BedHead styling products, including Superstar Queen for a Day, a thickening spray that provides second day, lived-in texture for a style with staying power. I bought a can after they used it on me, because hot-damn it worked so well.
One of my favorite things about the event (in addition to my amazing braids) was the hats gifted to us by House of Shroom, which is a lifestyle apparel brand of Mad Mushroom Pizza! I'm a HUGE fan of Mad Mush, so I was pumped to get my hat! I chose a black hat with the Pi symbol on the front and 'Death to False Pizza' in script on the back. Damn, I love pizza.
If you're a dude, you got to snag matching underwear and socks from Related Garments in celebration of National Underwear Day (August 5th), which is awesome. I also indulged in a few specialty cocktails thanks to Zespri Kiwis, Deep Eddy Vodka, Heineken, Dang, Simply Gum, Health Ade Kombucha, and Boxed Water. If you stuck around, you could snag a promo code from Postmates, but your girl was ready to see the Pretty Reckless, and didn't realize they had been cancelled so there went that. (The hat I grabbed from House of Shroom is on my head in the below picture!)
Sunday morning I spent at Brunch x Burn at the W Hotel. I'm a Brunch x Burn OG (#HumbleBrag) so naturally I couldn't miss the Lolla edition, dubbed "Hangover Edition." I had a HUGE breakfast, rolled out with Hyperice, had some cocktails (multiple) made with Bai Sparkling, and snagged a sick fanny pack goodie bag before heading to lolla for day four! I was hoping to get braids for it, so I removed my braids Saturday night. The line was too long however, so I stuck with leaving my hair down and makeup simple for the day.
Annnnnd that sums up my lolla weekend! How was yours? Did you participate in any fun lolla events? Who was your favorite artist to see?
