Recovery Items I'm Loving

Marathon training has taught me a very hard but very hard lesson: recovery is vital. It's not all about cranking out miles and working out your cardio endurance; you have to take care of those building muscles as well.

A huge part of how I'm caring for myself and my muscles is by having a membership to EDGE Athlete Lounge, where I have access to an ice bath and warm bath, laser pen, recovery boots, and a lot of very smart coaches to help me be my best. If you have any interest in EDGE, leave a comment below and I will be happy to get you more info.

In addition to EDGE, who I'm also running the marathon with, I've got a nice little stash of other gear that I absolutely love and want to share with you!

Parodi Comforting Muscle Lotion

I like to call this Bengay on steroids. Like not literally. But whatever. It gives you a comforting relief similar to other muscle creams, but the scent is pleasant and it has this amazing roller ball that makes application AMAZING. I like to put it on before bed a bask in the comforting relaxation it provides my achy legs.

Trigger Point Therapy Products

I personally use a few items from Trigger Point, including the MB1 Massage Ball, The MB2 Roller and the MobiPoint Massage Ball. I find that Massage Balls do more for my aching quads and IT bands than a normal foam roller does.

Tiux Compression Socks

I love my Tiux compression socks. They compress comfortably all the way through my feet and I love to wear them while I have my legs up the wall or around the apartment when I'm just recovering. I have the purple pair and love them!

I've got a post coming up about the gear I'm wearing for the marathon next week, but these are my three (four counting EDGE) life-savers this past couple of months! What recovery items can't you live without?

8 more days!
