I didn't die at the Nike Unlimited Chicago Decathlon

You read that right: I did a modified decathlon and survived to tell the tale. Actually, it was a blast, even when I fell in front of everyone.

Nike+ events are one of my favorite spots to meet new people and make new friends, and the Unlimited Chicago event was no exception.

The Nike Unlimited campaign is great. Not only do I love the color scheme, but I love the message. You truly have no limits when it comes to your self improvement and goals. There is no one limiting you but yourself, and the sooner you learn that, the sooner you can let go of those "limits" and truly excel.

I tend to be a person who places imaginary limits on herself, so this message is absolutely crucial for me to absorb and live. The Decathlon was a great way to remind myself of just how unlimited I am. All ten events (100m, 400m, 1500m, long jump/broad jump, shot put, high jump/vertical jump, hurdles, javelin throw, discus/medicine ball throw, sled pull) pushed me to my preconceived limits, and eventually, through them. I fell on the hurdles, and couldn't figure out the shot put to save my life, but I learned a lot about myself as an athlete and Brittany as a person while working my ass off through these trials.

For the second time this summer, I finished a race on Soldier Field and it was even more amazing this time. Running in to the lights and hot pink and volt banners was amazing, and nothing beats the free food and drinks while mingling with fellow athletes. I saw old friends, made a few new ones, and caught myself answering the "how long have you lived in Chicago?" question with "almost a year!" Can you believe that? I've almost been here for an entire year.

This event was a great reminder that I am unlimited. I can do what I want, when I want, as long as I work hard and be nice. Limits are just suggestions. Go out and surpass yours.
