Battle of the Meal Preps: Kettlebell Kitchen
So I'm gonna start this off by saying I covered this uh "live" on my story, so these photos are from Kettlebell Kitchen itself. I won't share any that I don't feel are reflective of what I received.
I'm a huge fan of KitchFix. I don't like to cook...I guess I like the sense of accomplishment after but I hate the act of cooking, so KitchFix and EatPurely are my favorites. I do not particularly like Snap Kitchen. I think that's some important context as we go into this.
So my meals arrived at about 7:45 pm, just past the 5-7 deadline (or 4-7, I can't remember what the early hour was but the deadline was 7). I pulled everything out and did an "unboxing" for Instagram. They arrived in a nice, padded cooler/lunchbox and had my order summary in a sleeve on the top. Everything arrived nice and cold and I unloaded them into my fridge.
I went ahead and popped one of the meals into the oven: wings with sweet potato hash and paleo ranch. Cooking them in the oven I think is what made this my favorite of the meals I ordered. I ordered three of these. The wings were flavorful and crisp out of the oven, and the hash was good. I wasn't a huge fan of the "dressing/sauce" however. That's not too unusual for me.
I decided to take the other options for lunch at work. In addition to the Chicken Wings with Paleo Ranch, I had the pulled pork thai green curry, Paleo Chicken Nuggets with Sweet Potato Fries, Athlete Honey Mustard Chicken with Rice.
What I Would Recommend
The Paleo Chicken Nuggets and sweet potato fries were fantastic, as were the aforementioned Wings. I would recommend those over and over and over again, though I recommend sticking to a sauce you know you love (I used good ole yellow mustard). They all reheated very well and were flavorful.
The Thai Green Curry was also pretty good, but is no longer available (it was limited). However, our office smelled terrible after I reheated it, so I recommend eating this one at home.
What I Would NOT Recommend
I was NOT a fan of the Athlete Honey Mustard Chicken with rice. I added more honey mustard to it and liked it a bit better, and put low sodium soy on the rice. But I felt that this meal had the least flavor, oddly enough. However, the macros are great on it. If you aren't deterred by slightly bland options and are in it for the macros, this is still a good option!
What I'll Order Next
I've been eyeing a couple of options for my next order: the Grass Fed Steak and Yuca and and the Wild Salmon Cakes. The Huevos Rancheros also look delicious, but I'm more of a fruit for breakfast kinda girl.
Overall
Overall, I would order from Kettlebell Kitchen again. It was a bit pricey, but the chicken nuggets and wings were delicious and easy meals to take to work or pop in the oven when I got home from a long day. The order arrived a tad late, but nothing too terrible. If you're a fan of KitchFix but bored with the options, or aren't in Chicago, I would highly recommend Kettlebell Kitchen. You can use this link to get some $$ off and give it a try yourself!
